Treatment of HPV

Currently, there is no treatment for HPV infection. However, several treatment options are available for genital warts, including:

• Applying ointment on the warts over a period of time, which can cause a burning sensation or pain
• Surgery to cut or burn away the warts, which can be painful or cause scarring
• Cryotherapy to freeze the warts, which can be painful

In some cases, repeated treatment may be required to achieve satisfactory result, and treatment cannot prevent the warts from growing back.
